Our Roots

From 4th Avenue to 8th Street.

El Charro Cafe is a family-owned Mexican restaurant in Yuma, Arizona, founded in 1949 by Tony and Lola Gutierrez and now serving guests at 601 W 8th St. The restaurant is known for Sonoran Mexican comfort food, handmade family recipes, rolled tacos, burritos, enchiladas, caterings, margaritas, and warm hospitality built across generations. What began on 4th Avenue grew into an 8th Street home where Yuma families still gather for lunch, dinner, takeout, celebrations, and familiar plates made with care. El Charro does not take reservations, but guests can call, get directions, order online, or plan catering for offices, parties, weddings, quinceaneras, and local events. The current family team continues the same tradition: fresh Mexican food, community pride, and a table that feels like Yuma.
